Our long-awaited Columbarium is complete! Thank you to the Members of SPC and the Members of the Columbarium Committee for making this possible!
The word COLUMBARIUM comes from the Latin name for a dwelling place of a dove (Columba), which Christians believe is the symbol of the Holy Spirit.
Urns containing the cremated ashes of loved ones are placed in a wall of niches to create a Columbarium. The purchase of niches, like the purchase of cemetery plots includes the perpetual care of the Columbarium.
The Columbarium and Memorial Garden sits on the hallowed ground of Shallotte Presbyterian Church, sacred to the memory of those who have departed from our midst, providing a resting place for ashes of members, becoming a peaceful setting for remembrance and meditation.
Inurnment within the church ground is an appropriate last resting place for the earthly remains of those who in life loved the church. Memorial Wall Plaques can be reserved in honor of or in memory of someone.
